All roads in and out of Tingha were closed for a number of days, such was the extent of the damage. A large percentage of the people of tingha were evacuated to Guyra, Inverell or Bundarra, where they remained for days. Police were onsite fining people who thought it was a good idea to disobey the closure signs. Trees were falling regularly and emergency vehicles were using the closed roads, meaning that continuing along closed roads was putting lives at risk.
